Speaking at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit here, Jaitley said the Supreme Court had upheld “most of what Aadhaar does”. He added, “What has not been upheld falls in two categories. Bulk of that has been struck down on two principles — one is the principle of proportionality, that Aadhaar will help in these cases, please weigh the pros and cons and then do it by an appropriate law. So this whole argument which was being given, that private companies can’t use it... For instance there is a Section 57 which says you can authorise others either ‘by law’ or ‘by contract’. So what has been struck down is ‘by contract’. The incident took place in Mangalvedha Taluka of Solapur district of Maharashtra early Friday. Anuradha Vitthal Birajdar (22) was a medical student, police said. Her uncle, Balsaheb Mhamane, has lodged the complaint in this case at the Mangalvedha police station, following which police arrested Anuradha’s father, Vitthal Dhondiba Birajdar (55), and stepmother, Shridevi (43), on Friday night. While voting will be held in November and December, results for allfive states, seen as a bellwether for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, will be announced on December 11. Barring Maoist-affected Chhattisgarh, the other states will conduct elections in a single phase. South Chhattisgarh, with 18 seats, will vote on November 12 and the 72 seats in north Chhattisgarh will vote on November 20. For 230 seats in Madhya Pradesh and 40 seats in Mizoram, the voting will take place on November 28. And Rajasthan and Telangana will poll for their 200 and 119 seats on December 7. The current policy restricts the stay of wives of players and support staff to just two weeks. It is learnt that Kohli first broachedtheissuewithatopBCCI official who in turn conveyed the team’s request to the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) headed by Vinod Rai and Diana Edulji. Sources said that theCoA has nowaskedIndianteammanager Sunil Subramaniam to make a formalrequesttochangetherule but that they would not be taking a decision any time soon.
