Arunachal again, China slams Dalai Lama tour

On a day when Prime Minister Manmohan Singh told military commanders that the “overall situation in our immediate neighbourhood has worsened,” China again raked up the issue of Arunachal Pradesh, this time objecting to Dalai Lama’s plans to visit the state next month. New Delhi had earlier said that that Arunachal Pradesh was an “inalienable” part of India and the Tibetan spiritual leader was free to visit any part of the country.

In Beijing, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ma Zhaoxu said: “China’s position on so-called Arunachal Pradesh is consistent and clear and we firmly oppose the Dalai Lama’s visit to the region. China is greatly concerned over the news.”
