PTI Hijacking bid foiled, Navy hunts for pirates, probes vessels in area AMRITA NAYAK DUTTA NEW DELHI, JANUARY 6 A DAY after they foiled a hijacking attempt in the north Arabian Sea, the Indian Navy personnel are investigating several suspectedvesselsintheareatotrack down the pirates. On Friday afternoon, the Navy’s marine commandos (MARCOS) boarded a Liberiaflagged vessel, MV Lila Norfolk, a bulkcarrier,andrescueditscrew of 21, including 15 Indians, after carrying out “sanitisation” operations. The MARCOS team, however, did not find any pirates onboard. “It is suspected that forceful warningsbytheIndianNavalaircraft to the vessel and likely interception by IN (Indian Navy) warship, probably compelled the pirates to escape during the night hours,” the Navy said in a statement on Saturday.
