The matter came to light after police examined CCTV footage,callrecordsandmedical reports, which raised doubts about the bullet injury. The police said that during prolonged questioning, the womanadmittedtofalselymaking the claims to implicate a few local residents. She said that a quack had “superficially implanted” the bullet in her shoulder in exchange for money, they added. The police suspect she planned to use the fabricated case to extort money from the people she intended to implicate, including a prominent local leader and a businessman. “We have now decided to take action against the woman for fabricating evidence in the case,” said Assistant Superintendent of Police Manush Pareek. Pareek added that efforts are on to trace the quack who implanted the bullet, along with others who may have been involved in the matter. The woman, a divorcee who works as a beautician, is likely to record her statement in court on Thursday. According to the police, they received information on March 29 that a woman had been shot byunidentifiedpersons.Apolice team reached the spot and sent her to hospital for treatment.
