Trump had said last week that he had told Apple CEO Tim Cook that he does not want the companytoexpanditsmanufacturingoperationsinIndia,unless it is to cater specifically to its domestic market. His fresh salvo comes as India and the US are currently negotiating an interim trade deal. “I have long ago informed Tim Cook of Apple that I expect their iPhones that will be sold in theUnited Statesof Americawill bemanufacturedandbuiltinthe United States, not India, or anyplace else. If that is not the case, a Tariff of at least 25% must be paid by Apple to the U.S. Thank you for your attention to this matter,” Trump said in a social media post Friday.
